Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups strawberries (clean, hulled, and chopped)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine strawberries, water, and sugar. Stir gently.
  2. Mash the strawberries against the side of the pan as the mixture warms to release their juices.
  3. Increase heat to bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until all sugar dissolves.
  4. Lower heat and simmer for about 20 minutes until the syrup takes on a deep strawberry color.
  5. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh strainer into another container without pressing down on berries.
  6. Allow the syrup to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container for storage.
