  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms (cremini or button)
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
  • 1 package thawed puff pastry
  • 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
  • Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Sear the beef in olive oil over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from heat and cool.
  2. In the same skillet, cook mushrooms, shallots, and garlic until golden brown; stir in thyme and season.
  3. Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick; cut into 3×3 inch squares.
  4. Place a spoonful of mushroom mixture and a piece of seared beef on each square. Fold and seal edges with a fork.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange bites on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
