  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 TBSP cinnamon
  • 2 TBSP unsalted butter (for breadcrumbs)
  • 1 cup fresh white bread crumb
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 TBSP milk
  • 2 TBSP maple syrup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream unsalted butter with 1½ cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup; mix until combined.
  3. Incorporate nutmeg, salt, and baking powder into the mixture. Gradually add flour until just combined.
  4. Shape dough into ping-pong-sized balls and roll in a cinnamon-sugar mixture before placing on baking sheets.
  5. Flatten each cookie slightly and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden around the edges.
  6. Prepare brown butter breadcrumbs by toasting fresh breadcrumbs in browned unsalted butter.
  7. Make the glaze with powdered sugar, milk, and maple syrup until smooth.
  8. Spoon glaze over cooled cookies and top with brown butter breadcrumbs.
