  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt; mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in diced apples and nuts if using.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow cooling before frosting with maple cream cheese frosting made by mixing softened cream cheese, butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
