  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Chocolate shavings or curls (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix in milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate boiling water into the wet mixture.
  5. Divide the batter among the prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool the cakes in their pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
