  • 9 ounces dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, and almond extract in a small saucepan over medium heat until dissolved. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and almond flour until smooth. Add the egg, yolk, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix well. Stir in whole milk until combined.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice each croissant in half lengthwise and spread filling generously on each half. Add chopped chocolate before reassembling.
  4. Brush croissants with syrup and sprinkle with sliced almonds. Arrange on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
